Behind the Paintings

Patií Domingues is a Brazilian visual artist and architect based in France. Trained in Architecture and Urbanism, she has developed a distinctive visual language in which architecture becomes a vehicle for memory, perception and quiet psychological tension. Through painting, sculpture and photography, her work transforms familiar places into emotional landscapes where colour, light and subtle visual humour reveal what often remains unnoticed.

Since beginning her professional artistic career in 2010, Patií has exhibited extensively in Brazil and Europe. Her work was first presented at Manifestations V: Hybridism at MuBE – the Brazilian Museum of Sculpture, São Paulo, and has since been featured in solo and group exhibitions including the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris, the Consulate General of Brazil in Amsterdam, exhibitions in the Netherlands, and several solo exhibitions in Germany. Her paintings are held in private collections across Europe and South America.

Alongside her painting practice, Patií develops multidisciplinary projects that combine sculpture, photography and participatory installations. Among them are the Travelling House Project, a work that invites strangers to carry a small sculpture from country to country, and Champagne People, a playful series combining miniature cork sculptures with Polaroid photography and understated visual humour.

Her artistic collaborations extend beyond the gallery space. She created the album artwork and visual identity for musician Cadu Pereira, designed the album covers for Murilo Caetano Jr., and has also produced editorial artwork for literary publications, expanding her visual language across music and publishing.

Today, Patií lives and works in rural France, where she is developing an independent research-based artistic residency investigating architecture, traces, memory and the invisible narratives embedded in landscapes. Her current practice continues to explore the fragile boundary between observation and imagination, transforming ordinary places into quiet spaces of wonder, ambiguity and contemplation.
